Marie Scherzer is a Berlin-based choreographer, movement director, stage coach, and creative director working across film, television, performing arts, and live productions. Her artistic work explores the intersection of body language, storytelling, and emotional presence — shaping how characters move through space and story.
Since 2021, Marie has worked with the German electropop duo 2raumwohnung, serving as choreographer and stage coach for their live shows. In parallel, she has acted as creative director and choreographer for performing arts at the Garbicz Festival in Poland, where she conceptualized and directed large-scale productions, including the choreography for the Opening Ceremony and immersive performance formats such as MaschineMensch and Cyborgism.
In 2024, she led an international masterclass at Cyprus Film Days titled “The Artistry of Body Language & Storytelling through Physical Movement”, where she shared practical insights into the power of physical expression in contemporary cinema.
Her choreographic work for film includes the role of movement director and choreographer for the feature film “15 Jahre” by director Chris Kraus, which premiered as the Opening Film of the Internationale Hofer Filmtage 2024. She also contributed as movement director to several high-profile film and television productions, including The Austrian Case (Netflix, 2024), Hundertdreizehn (WDR, 2024), and Eldorado KaDeWe (ARD, 2021), where she also cast the full dance ensemble and choreographed for both the series and its official soundtrack music videos produced by Constantin Music. In 2025, she worked as movement director on the HFF Munich production Engine of Love, part of the “Talent in Progress” program at the Max Ophüls Film Festival, and continued collaborating with award-winning actors such as Albrecht Schuch and Lia von Blarer.
Marie’s work is shaped by her early background at Tanztheater Jena, where she spent more than a decade performing and contributing choreographically from a young age. As a teenager, she led youth dance groups in Thuringia, which laid the foundation for her lifelong engagement with expressive movement.
In 2020 she was artistic director of the interdisciplinary dance theater collective DisTanz, where she develops politically and socially engaged performances. Her live choreographies have been featured at events and festivals including Fusion Festival, Reeperbahn Festival, Melt Festival, Attention Festival, Berlin Christopher Street Day (CSD), and the Carnival of Cultures Berlin.
Marie is a voting member of the European Film Academy and actively contributes to the international film community. She completed her professional training in theatre pedagogy with a focus on intercultural competence at the Academy of Creative Education in Berlin and continues to expand her practice at the intersection of movement, film, and education.
